GENERAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Teacher Position: Master's, Bachelor's or Associates Degree in education or field applicable to position (e.g. biology), (experience in a Montessori setting highly preferred but not required).
Teacher Assistant Position: Education and/or experience in a Montessori setting (highly preferred) working with children at the elementary level.
Substitute Position: On-call, as-needed to fill in during teacher scheduled and unscheduled absences.
Other Positions: Education, skills or experience applicable to the position.
Formal Montessori training is ideal for all classroom positions, but we will consider applicants who:
1. have a solid understanding of the Montessori method and a willingness to embrace its tenets, or pursue Montessori training, or
2. who have Montessori classroom experience,
3. who have teaching experience and are committed to learning and embracing the Montessori method.
For non-classroom positions, experience or training applicable to the position.
Special skills such as art, music, yoga, foreign/sign language, theater, etc. are a plus!
Cultivating a calm, welcoming, beautiful environment that meets the needs of our students and their families.
Implementing programs/curriculum in accordance with our School's mission and vision.
Supporting family communication and engagement.
Monthly curriculum planning and classroom design/setup (Teachers/Assistants).
Completing professional development each year (Teachers/Assistants).
Completing and maintaining CPR/First Aid and Health & Safety training.
This list is not exhaustive, and Substitute responsibilities and non-classroom positions will differ.
You must be someone who is kind, nurturing, joyful, enthusiastic, committed, accountable and reliable; a motivated, secure, self-directed team-player, with great organizational and communication skills and a strong work ethic. This is a lot to ask but you get the idea! Enthusiasm and engagement must be part of you, not just interview strategies.
